running Boards
I got my 2007 F150XLT with what appears to be stock running boards. I know there are powered ones, Amp comes to mind.
I am considering changing mine somehow. They only reason is my wife with short legs has some other some health issues. As it is, the running boards are okay for her once she is on them, the first step is a bit of a stretch. I don't think powered ones go any lower than those I I have, so just going for powered may not be the answer. I thought of having the dealer mount powered boards under the current ones, but then they would stick out a bit far when in the out position to help her.
What may help if there are such things as extensions between the frame and the non-powered boards. If I were to find some one who could fabricate such brackets, what strength issues would I face? At this point just considering doing something, may never occur.
An obvious solution would be to have a permeant step in the driveway to pull up next to, but that step would not be with me everywhere. I do have a small step stool that folds up, but she gets in before I can get it out for her!

Or you could lower the truck slightly. Remove the rear blocks and put in some 2wd coilovers. I think extending the running boards lower or adding a second set under them would just look weird.
yes I agree with looking weird, especially if adding a second set- even if it possible. Sometimes use takes precedence on looks though. Thanks for the suggestion.
