i have a 2007 extended cab and i'm looking to put stock running boards on it. i have an opportunity to buy boards off an 06, will they fit and are the mounting holes already there?

Assuming the cab style is the same [SCREW or SCAB], yes & yes. Make sure you get all the attaching hardware. The mounting brackets for the factory steps are hard to come by, separate from the entire step kit/package.
