Default Ruined my fog lights today....

So not too long ago, we got some flooding. I had to drive thru pretty deep water to get home and rescue my neighbors car. Needless to say, my 2004’s fog lights weren’t exactly waterproof and the bulbs blew in spectacular fashion, sending glass all thru the assembly. In order to reseal them, I put them in the oven and baked them open. I got all the glass out, rinsed them out and let them dry. Right before I was about to reinstall the lenses (after a good wet sanding, polish, sealant) I decided to take some non-ammoniated glass cleaner to the housings to clean up the water spots. Bad idea.

Top pic is the water level, middle is “before” applying the glass cleaner, and bottom is “after” glass cleaner and light lint free rag.

What about chrome paint? Not sure how it holds up to heat or reflective ability.

That was honestly the only issue I ever had with my 05 was the fogs sucking water and blowing bulbs.

Were you fog lights on when that happened or off?

completely? No. I had water about 1/4 up the rear diff, don’t think the front diff got anything more than that.. I’ve put over 1000 miles on it since and no abnormalities.
