Yes, I'm also exploring local shop rebuild and 'take-off' alternatives, but want info on buying a remanufactured assembly, too.

FWIW mine is a one-owner 2005 F150, 9.75 inch, 3.73:1 limited slip. Not my primary vehicle but it's a 'keeper' and I'm willing to spend to get it back to 100% reliable.
