Default rough running f150

i had my check engine lite come on and the truck was running rough, so i babied it home, through on a code tester and it coded oxy sensor #1 side was bad, so i changed both upper sensors, cleaned the battery posts, tryied to start engine it then started to run even rougher, gauges acted funny, looked in chiltons for codes. freaked out so i took it to a shop to get it fixed they said i had a bunch of codes that were weird and that i needed a new motor (5.4). they didn't fix a thing yet, took it home, called a ford garage and talked to a service person they said it was more then likely my cam phaser was bad, its been sitting since december in snow bank, hoping to find out if cam phaser is problem or not, and whether or not to take it to the ford people to fix. so im asking if i attempt the cam phaser as in the posts i was reading well i fix the code and rough engine operation problem.. where's the best place to get all the parts. and can someone tell me the procedure to follow when r&r cam phaser. do i need the radiator out the chiltons doesn't seem to cover all steps. please help miss my truck (2004 f150 lariat)

describe how (in which way) was it running rough? just random mis-fires, or did it go into a gnarly, ratchety, diesel-sounding freak-out mode?

codes? sounds like the whole timing system is junk and if they are bad enough, you bought yourself a whole new engine

when it freaks out, put it in neutral and rev it to about 1,500-2,000 rpm. if it comes out of it, it's likely just the phaser/timing kit job....

Dem codes, doe.... man....
