I am looking for advice on how to troubleshoot my 2007 F150 5.4 with a rough idle. I started with using forescan to read the trouble codes. Which showed me that the vvt solenoid on bank 2 was having problems. So I replaced the vvt solenoid. After opening up the valve cover on the driver side, I noticed how dirty the engine was, so i decided to flush the engine with new oil and 2 quarts of diesel. I then drained the oil and refilled again but this time with 5 quarts of oil and 2 quarts of ATF. Since then i still have a rough idle. i connected forescan again and verified the vvt solenoid on the driver side was working. My vvt error rate is near zero for both solenoids and my duty cycle for both is good as well, reaching 50% with 35% throttle and returning to zero at idle. After watching several videos of Ford TechMakuloco I am at a lost where to look next. Sorry for the long winded explanation. Thank you in advance for any advice given. Attached is a forescan file showing my readings. Forescan
What do your angles show at idle? The screen shot is at 1700 rpm.
The things I would look at for a rough idle are
Vacuum leaks
Spark plugs
Vct returning to zero at idle.
