You have an 05 right? That hose is right at 10 years old! Sorry, but a rubber hose does not last forever! I'd say darn good quality for going that far under a hood, and with engine heat to deal with.

Seems odd all the other rubber under the hood is still good. Also just replaced all the original hoses on my 85 RX7 and they were still somewhat plyable. Anyway nice to having it run good again.

Yeah, that hose is the only hose I found on my system that was significantly degraded. It's probably the fuel vapors that eat it up much quicker than the rest.
It should definitely be added to the common problem list for a rough idle diagnosis. Good thing VTX remembered it, because it totally slipped my mind..
Glad to see you got her fixed up.

I'll throw mine in there as well.

Bought the truck, VCT solenoid was bad, threw the p0022 code, changed out the solenoid, ran perfect after that. Yesterday, I really put my foot into her hard, and had to come to a stoplight shortly after. She idled a little rough, CEL comes on, p0022/p0345. I changed out the sensor, and ran her again today. Same issue, this time as soon as I recognized the idle issue, I popped her into neutral, gave a tiny bit of gas, cleared up no problem, and I drove on my way.

Every other light, at normal driving, coming down from normal speeds and such, I don't have an issue, so she's not ALWAYS doing the rough idle in drive at stoplights etc, does fine in parking lots. She only does it after I decide to put my foot into her a bit.

Acceleration is fine, no loss of power there, no misfires, slight ticking on startup at idle but I haven't seen many that don't have a tick of some sort. Oil change is fresh, and I don't notice or feel anything out of the ordinary... Other than that she runs perfectly..

I remembered it because that's what cured about 90% of my rough idle problem, and my hose was crumbling too.

Next on my list is rebuilding the rear end. I just ordered $900 in parts- new TrueTrac carrier, complete rebuild kit including all bearings and seals, a crush washer elimination kit, and new repair bearing/seal combos for the wheel bearings. It's going to cost me $700+ labor to get it done.

After that I'm going to tackle the cam phasers. I already have a complete set of lash adjusters and cam followers here. I still get a rough idle upon cold start. It gets worse as the oil gets older but goes away after about 30 seconds. I'm convinced that it's the lash adjusters. I have 100K on the truck now.

After that will be the leaking passenger exhaust manifold. I'm thinking about long tubes, cats, and a Borla exhaust. It never ends...
