I used a ratchet strap like for strapping stuff down on a trailer to pull the A arm back together, didn't need the coil spring compressor...took about 45 mins. per side but I did have a friend help me.
I had the front end re-aligned the next day and they charge me $140.

 

I started doing this but hated how the strut was flexing so I spun the top around and it seemed to fit so much smoother and without as much stress. Just my opinion
