Default Rocker and Cab Corner Rust

I do not have much of a problem yet with the cab corner's, but I want to be proactive. Is there something I can spray in the hole to stop or slow whatever has already started to rust. Also is there anything I should do before doing either?

Then what would you suggest to plug the hole?

Thanks in advance....

I realize this is really late, but I've been researching this too. Look up fluid film for rust prevention. Think I'm gonna try it.

Also with you guys. I'd like to prevent it as well. I might start researching more but I'm curious does it affect all cabs and if so where exactly is it rusting. I know there was an earlier post on this recently.

I'd like to just put in my two cents on this subject. I was talking to my auto body guy about it because my paint is starting to flake off the rockers and he couldn't stress enough the importance of preventing it from rusting because he said our trucks are the most time consuming and the most expensive ones to fix if it starts to rust all the way through.

Also I'd check behind your fender flares, mine are also starting to rust there

Ya, I got to talking to my babysitters husband, who does auto body by profession, but also does side work in his garage. We got to talking cause he had an 05, I think, in his garage doing this repair. He said he charges $1800 to repair both sides, so he took a look at mine and said it looked really good, and I should do something to keep it that way. But I did have some bubbling in about a 2 inch circle under the passenger rear door, not sure how to go about tackling that yet....

I got some stuff called Dupli-Color Rust Fix awhile back from Advance and sprayed the crap out of it into both sides. Then plugged it with some bondo stuff, not sure exactly what, but it wasnt the right stuff, it began to crack the next day, I assume it was too stiff and the flexing broke it. I havent done anything with it since.

Also I think it can affect all cabs, however it depends upon the conditions the truck is driven in. Im a little surprised as mine is an 05 and driven every winter day in Iowa, where everything gets salted. Anyway it just depends on the environment.

There's a company where I live that rhino lines rocker panels which is what I was thinking about doing, they also fix the minor rust first and it seems to hold up pretty well. A main reason I want to do it also is because my tires throw up boulders at my bumper and rocker panels. They only charge a couple hundred which is worth it to me even if it only lasts 2 years.

My truck had the Ziebart rust inhibitor, the type that is sprayed inside the panels through drilled holes, and here is my cab corner at 100k

Wow $1800..... My buddy (who owns a body shop) only charged the car dealer $600 to repair both sides of an 05 f150 that had been traded in with cab corner rot. Too bad you weren't closer.
