reverse sensors
My 06 Lariat reverse sensors will work intermittently, and then, only for a few seconds. 16 yr. old backed into a concrete light base, no real damage, gotta get em fixed. Thanks for any suggestions. New to the forum by the way. If I ain't "doing" it right let me know.
Try to search for for the answer on this forum. It could be a few different things depending on whats going on. There are a few good write ups about this problem including one I did. My problem was the connector itself was bad. Good luck
As Screw05 mentioned, there's tons of posts about this already.
When the system isn't working, after 4 seconds of any of the 4 sensors not talking to the Parking Assist Module (PAM), it'll automatically disable itself (and you cannot re-enable it). On the flip side, as soon as all 4 sensors come back online, within 4 seconds it'll re-enable itself. So the best place to start is, turn the ignition off but don't start the ignition, apply the e-brake, put the truck in reverse and after the system disables itself go to the rear and listen to each sensor. They'll make a tapping noise. The sensor that isn't will be the culprit. It's likely he damaged the wires so wiggle them and such to see if it comes back online. If not, you can try swapping sensors and if the same sensor is still out, that confirms it's wiring. If the sensor that you swapped is dead in the new spot, then he damaged the sensor (although I'm more convinced he crushed the wires).
