Default Retrofit Help

I'm about to start my retrofit. I realize there are many threads out there that it's nearly impossible to cover all of them. I wanted to start this thread to gather useful tips and things to avoid when building your retrofit headlights.

Do your homework before you start. There are countless YOUTUBE videos out there with how to's on retrofits. And although they may not be for an F150, its all the same protocol. You have to be confident that you can accomplish every part of the install. Painting the housing, wiring, etc. Just take your time. If you run into a problem post pics and ask questions here. Good luck!

Ok cool. I feel more than confident. I have done everything to my truck myself (with a little help on the lift). Does anyone happen to know the correct halo sizes(mm) to get? Is it a 120mm and like a 90mm for the headlamp dish and blinker dish?

That's incorrect. I bought a 90mm hoping it'd fit the blinker but didn't fit. My guess is it would be 110mm and the reflector bowl isn't sold in mm halos, you'd have to buy a kit from oracle or LED concepts.

I retro'd my 03 silverado headlamps myself with quad projectors which everyone said was impossible. Take your time and you will do fine. I'm planning on doing this to my F150 soon.

Did you buy the Morimoto projector kit from retrofitsource.com or the FX-35 kit? As others have stated, HIDplanet is the best place for support and advice.

Read read and read, just once you think your ready, read some more. I was gonna tackle my retrofit after months of research. Ended up changing up things as I went. Couldn't finish it because of work and no free time so sent it to a guy here on the forum. Don't go cheap on the parts to try and save a buck or two. You don't want something going out and having to open them back up. I'd suggest using only morimoto TRS parts and led concept parts. There's a couple other companies out there that are good to but that's just a couple off the top of my head. A retrofit is fully customizable so it's all about what you want and what you can think of. Take your time and research, there's plenty of threads here and on hidplanet.
