im not looking to actually take the whole shifter out. just looking to remove the plastic on the shifter.

Ya i know. Just letting you know its fairly easy. About 3 minutes to take the shifter out. Might make it easier. Just a though. I posted cause i would like to see how it turns out so I needed something to subscribe with.

This is what the shifter looks like pulled out. If you screw urs up Im pretty sure I still have this one. I can sell it to ya

see the 4th pic? the very top of the shifter, where you wrap your hand around to select the gears. the plastic part? thats all im wanting to remove. if i knew how to post pics i would. im not sure your understanding me, im also not sure im understanding you. lol on the very top of the shifter is a chrome cap. then there is 4" plastic round piece where you wrap your hand around. that is the piece im want to remove. probably easier for me to just bust out the hammer and pliers, than it is to explaine what i wanna do.

Ya i completely understand what you are trying to do. I just find it easier to work outside of the truck than it is inside of it. I have never tinkered with the actual handle part so best of luck to ya.

Oh, and general consensus of uploading pics is to use photobucket then use the [img] code. Those pics should be bigger than they are but i grouped em cause i was lazy.
