Probably won't need an amp. Throw them in and worst case if you don't like the way they sound get an amp. I'm probably going to amp my jbl component speakers down the road and if i do i'm looking into the alpine ktp-455u. It's small enough to fit behind the radio but puts out a decent amount of power.

you might not like the sony speakers. if you have a stock head unit there will be plenty of power without adding an amp. barjrob1972 is right about the peak power. marketing gimmick. the "rated" or "nominal" output is best used to judge whether or not you really need an amp.

Well I Just put them in and its an improvement on stock but just a minor one, I wasn't sure wether to connect the stock tweeters so i left them unplugged, do you think it would be alright if i connected the tweeters too, since the stock speaker had a sort of amp type thing on it that connects the tweeter.

And The reason I have the sonys is because a friend had them in storage and gave me them, brand new in the box and everything.

Thanks For all the Feedback Tho' !

Amp them. The wattage on those cant take much but it will make your music richer.

that little thing connected to the tweeter is a crossover. It cuts the low end out of the sound signal so as to not blow the tweeter.

that contraption you speak of by the tweets is probably a crossover. It cuts the low end out of the signal so as to not blow out the tweeter.
