Anyone have step by step instructions on removing the transmission from 2005 F150 5.4 engine 4x4? I need to replace my flex plate and need to push the transmission back far enough to get my hands and sockets in there. I've never done this before but have done other repairs myself. I don't own a hoist or know anyone who does. I was thinking of getting my mechanic to do it but I don't want to pay 800-1000 bucks if I can do it myself.

 

The write-up is for an 03 but it shouldn't differ too much. Have a friend on hand when you're ready to drop the tranny.

Buy a manual. I have both the Haynes and Chilton manuals. They are amazing help
