I've always wondered this especially with the remotes that can start it a mile away. Is it possible to accidentally start it by having the key FOB in your pocket?
they have time limits you can set on em lol so you wont run out of gas. i think the time limits go up to an hour or more though.

i set the two i installed to 15-20.

They usually have a timed cut off. I think the one on my Cobra will shut itself off after 10 or 20 minutes. Also have it set where I have to push a 2 button combination to get it to start instead of just a single button so chance of an accidental start is very slim. Always have the remote hanging out of my pocket anyway.

Good to know on the cutoff. I'm not too concerned about the range. I want it mainly for morning starts before I load my kid up to go to the sitter.

Install is not very difficult but if you don't have electrical networking knowledge and multimeter skills than I do not recommend it. I personally don't recommend anything DEI/XPRESSkit. They have solid products but clearly don't care about there customers. Had I known this I would have taken my business elsewhere. Just my two cents

you gotta remember that most of these remote start companies wont give customer service for a DIY install. im sure the same goes for Xpresskit. thats the risk you take when installing it yourself, again why you need to have some knowledge of electrical workings and aleast the know how of a voltmeter.

just like python wont give support to DIY installs.

bull dog security will give support to those DIY installs but no clue on product quality.

DEI/Xpresskit are great systems and faily easy to program manually, directions are pretty easy to follow as well.

dont get me wrong, its ****ty that they offer no support to those of us that want to do things on our own and not pay 2x the price to have something installed lol

Not to scare you away from the smart start, but I've heard nothing but negative things about its functionality.
