My trans has bit the dust on my 2005 (5.4 auto). After a brief search it appears I can get a reman trans for a few hundred more than a rebuild.

So my question to the community is Who should I buy my reman trans from?

I would like to hear your recommendations on remanufactured transmissions.

I had a shop do mine and was told they just do a reman as a rebuild will cost more because of labor.

I’ve had the reman for the last 25k miles and so far it’s solid.

 

Do you know who did the reman or who they bought it from?

From what I am seeing I can get a reman for less than a rebuild but when you are in R&R costs the reman comes out about $300 more. The rebuild only has 1 year warranty and the reman has 3.

wish I knew. I was just told it was a shop “down the road” and he had the trans literally the next day (he def picked it up) They most have a shelf of them ready to go lol. This is NJ shore area.


the reman trans has a matte black case though compared to the OEM silver. Also had a 3yr unlimited mileage warranty.

this was the best service I ever had. I think I had the truck flat bedded to the shop Sunday night, he called me Monday AM, and I picked it up Tuesday.
