Default Reman/Rebuilt engine

Hey guys, so I bought a 2008 f150 with about 130k miles on it. I recently had to do a timing job on it and while I was in there, I discovered that my cam journals were really scored up. I'm thinking of attempting to rebuild the engine myself with some help from a friend, or just purchasing a reman engine for it. With that being said, if I end going with a reman engine, where would be the best website/parts store to purchase it from? I've heard of Fraser engines but some of the experiences I've read have me thinking they're not the best option. I don't want to go over $4000 if possible with a reman.

I was browsing for crate engines a while back & found a few sites - none of which I have any experience with.

https://fraserengineco.com/5-4l-ford-engines/
https://spprecision.com/products/for...gine-sale.html
https://accurateengines.com/remanufa...-valve-engine/ (Pretty good warranty if true)
Then there's always Summit 7 as far as I know they have a great reputation.

Good luck

I'm not trying to be rude, but this same question has came up several times in just the last few months. did you try searching this forum?
Seems like the name I most hear mentioned is AER.
Some folks said that they got a reman engine from their local ford dealer and either the dealer install, had another shop install it or put it in themselves. I don't know if that affects any warranty or not..
and I bookmarked this one because it sounded promising you can even add a no fault warranty for $299 powertrain products.
best of luck

The least expensive Ford dealer I know of for parts is Auto Nation up in Minnesota. They run a big internet business and get parts drop shipped to customers directly. 10% over cost is a bargain in the parts world. See if they have a Ford remanufactured long block with a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty.

No worries man. I did do some research on this forum, I just wanted to see if there was other options out there that I haven't seen or heard of. I appreciate the link man.

AER supplies remanufactured engines to Ford dealers. most come with 3/36 warranty. If I remember correctly,I think at one time even Autozone could get them.

I've posted before but with limited luck on a similar topic. Seems very few guys rebuild their engines and opt to go reman but I've decided to rebuild my engine as a father son project. I already have the pistons but I need everything else. I've read that the cam phasers and tensioners are fickle so I'm going OEM on those but wondering who the best source is for the other stuff like gaskets and such. Anyone have any experience with any engine kits out there?

Mike

Check Rock Auto.Sometimes they have oem parts too.I know some of the gaskets are made by major manufacturers,Ive used them before.
