I have a 9.75 inch rear end. Do we have the same size front ends as the rear? So if I get 4.10 gears for the rear, then i get 4.10 for the front.

I am a two wheel drive. The gears were 4.11 Yukons. $150. The Master rebuild kit was an additional $160 also by Yukon. Yukon makes some of the very best gears you can get! Nothing cheap about them.

Dont get me wrong Yukon isnt cheap stuff, they are good gears. I used to be big into the rock crawling scene so you see whats the best and whats not, you see a little bit of everything break and stand up and most people i knew, inlcuding myself, went with alloy usa or superior because they were maybe a shade better in the long run than the yukons. For a truck application Yukon gears will be great im sure once they go in you will never have to do anything again i was just adding my 2 cents on what brand i preferred.

Yes if you do the rear in 4.10 you must do the front in 4.10. The gears in a 4wd must match. Also at $160 you may not need a rebuild kit, i dont know what it entails but i always used master install kits that ran from 70 to 100 clams and included new bearings, races, shims, seals and etc.

Without reading everyone elses post, my suggestion would be a Detriot Tru-Trak and 4:10 gears. I had a Detriot Tru-Trak put in my old 84 Chevy and loved it. Best on the road locker out there.

Yes you have to get matching 4.10s or 4.11s for the front differential. Your front differential should be a ford 8.8 IFS. The IFS will be a reverse cut ring and pinion since thats what your front has in it.
