I have a 2006 F-150 FX4 Supercrew Automatic and Electronic four-wheel drive transfer case. I use it as a farm pickup. I am wanting to tow this pickup, four wheels down behind either my main pickup or behind a tractor when tractor goes to town to be worked on. I found procedure in the manual. Basically, its parking brake off, ignition off, transmission in neutral, no farther than 50 miles, no faster than 35 mph, and only forward. I should be towing no farther than 10 miles, and under 35 mph doesn't bother me. Has anyone done this before, not damaged the pickup? or has tips to make this work better? I just put a motor in a few years ago and I like it as a farm pickup.
You will be fine.. with the engine off, there is no vacuum to the wheel ends so the front IWE's will be locked, this means the front hubs will be engaged and the front drive shaft will turn. Not sure why they say 35 mph because, you can drive in 4H at 50 mph.
