Default Rear lowering ?'s

I have an '06 XLT Screw 4x4. I don't go off-road, the only reason I bought a 4x4 is because the dealer didn't have any 2wd with the bells & whistles I wanted.

So on to my question. I want to level (lower) the back. I found a couple kits, but am curious about one thing. If I do this, will I have any problems with the driveline or anything else? And can I still run the factory shocks? I did some searching and didn't find anything for lowering, only lifting. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to run different shackles with no problem. I was advised that I could do it to mine with no problem because it was only a couple of inches at most. Please let us know what you find out. Thanks.

There are a couple of different rigs.

Groundforce and Eibach??? I think it is. They both have rear lowering shackle kits. There is springtech too, but I believe that those are the shock ones for the 01-03

You might want to check under your rear springs (I have an FX4) but I wanted to do the same thing, but didn't want to spend the $$, so.... I just removed the two stock blocks that were between my spring pack and the axle. I stopped by the dealership to ask a mechanic if it would cause problems and he said no. I've been running it now for a year with no problems. I did add helper air bags in the rear for towing.

Will this work the same way on a 2wd?

You'd have to look under the rear of your truck. I'm guessing that you have them as well. I don't see why it wouldn't work. The only thing you'll have to change is your u-bolts. the threads wont be long enough once you take the blocks out. You can add spacers or get new u-bolts made.

If you put in the 2 inch drop shackles and pull out the 1 inch 4X4 blocks it will sit level to the frontend

I do have the blocks. I thought about that, but was wondering if it would roughen the ride at all. Shouldn't, right?

I bought a set of lowering springs 4", haven't had a chance to install them yet. The have the drive line angle correction built into them. Also bought new rear shocks.
