Default Rear end question

Does anybody know if a rear end assembly from a newer model will bolt up to the 2004-2008 with no issue? My LS is not functioning properly and I'm wondering if I can't just put a newer rear end with factory locker in there to replace it.

I didn't know so I did a Google search & it says no. The mounting points for the rear end assembly & the shock mounts are different.

I tried to.look for stuff myself but was rewarded with conflicting info... So I came here and tried to look for answers... There is so much stuff on here and I'm not good at sifting thru the site so I just asked.
Thanks for the help.
