you rear bumper is really plastic?? mine is metal. as far as the squeaking mayeb just make sure everything is tight and even hit it with some typr of grease around any contact points of anything.

You sure that rear bumper isnt a "snap on roll pan" or something to that effect? Ford never made a plastic bumper for these trucks. They are all metal, whether its chrome or painted, its metal. The only thing plastic on these are the top steps.

I think he's talking about the plastic step pad on top of the bumper.

Not positive, but it probably snaps in and it has broken the clips. You could order a new piece.

He's got some good eyes if he can see it (plastic step pad) flopping in the rear view mirror....GATORB8 iwould be corect in thinking the snaps are broken; really, really broken!

I'm thinking VanoFord is onto somethig; perhaps this is some sort of aftermarket rear bumper body piece.

Hopefully "bigshow609" will provide a better explaination on this bumper setup.

If it's the black plastic step that fits on top of the bumper, you can buy a replacement from a parts site or dealer.

Next step then is to crawl underneath the back end and check/tighten the bracket to bumper/frame bolts.

Makes me wonder if the previous owner backed into something and loosened the bolts on the bumper brackets.

Now I'm confused....."sides" of the bumper bounce???? You should have a one piece (solid) rear bumper. If not, then post a pic of what you have.

Are you maybe talking about the rear fenders that are bouncing??
