Default Really need some help at this point

Had the 06 in the stealership for plug replacement. What NIGHTMARE that was. Also, had some noise coming from the front end I believe that can only be described as possibly a rubbing or grinding noise. While it was at the dealer, I mentioned it and asked for a diag. Well, while it was there they found the 4x4 was inoperable. Great.... I asked for a diag of that as well. No fix. Just tell me what's going on. Welp,I got the truck back and it runs good now. But the noise still persist and the 4x4 is still down. Here's what the repair order states from the tech: " Attempted to scan codes but obd port did not communicate with scan tool. Inspected fuse 41 in CJB and found fuse open. Replaced fuse and communication with scan tool succeeded. Found no relevant PCM codes other than p1000(battery had been disconnected), and found 4WD module not communicating."

Heres what it said about the rubbing/grinding like noise: "Verified noise concern. Inspected brakes and found the front and rear brakes to be new. No visible concern with brakes. Noise is coming from front of vehicle. Attempted to place the vehicle in 4H to get front wheels to move on hoist, but front wheels did not spin, indicating 4H is not engaging. Recommend repairing 4WD inoperative condition and retesting. Recommend repairing the 4WD system first "

So i guess my first question would be, could these 2 issues be related? Where should i start with this? Any suggestions on simple things to rule out etc?

Did the front driveshaft engage and spin ?
If it did, but the wheels didn't spin you probably got a busted or stripped iwe.
A partially engaging iwe is the most typical reason for a grinding sound in the front end.

I honestly don't know what they did at this point and I'm too pissed off to call and ask. What I do know is I checked the fuses and found fuse 29 and 30 were blown. Amazing how one pays for a diag but yet I'm the one who found blown fuses pertaining to the 4WD..Replaced the fuses and switched to 4h the light on the dask came on and immediately went off. Didn't do that previously so I guess that's progress. I then backed it out of the garage in 4h and had a difficult time backing and turning. I'm assuming at that point 4wd was engaged although the light was not on. I turned it back and drove around and found the grinding noise to be gone... But then I pulled over and switched to 4h and drove a little bit(still with no light on) and when I was making a slow speed right turn(5-10mph) I heard a loud boom. I immediately stopped and put it back in 2H and drove and parked it. Now the grinding noise is back and it seems to be worse.

never use 4x4 on hard dry surface, especially not while turning.
