It is factory spec on mine on the rear, semi on the front diff.

I think it's a good idea, there will be various opinions.

Default Hey beer time

I have a 2005 STX and same isse,I am almost 100 percent it's your U Joints. My truck would only vibrate over a certain speed.I got front and rear U Joints done for $150 At a shop and it's gone. But now I have a real bad vibration in front end.I changed inner and outer tie rods on both side and that's when it started.I've checked them both and they are super tight. It also makes a popping sound when hitting bump and turning but I only notixebad shake in truck and steering wheel above 60.Any ideas.Forgot to mention it goes away for a min.Almost seems as if the road is slanted more to the left it doesn't do it near as bad as if road is slanted to the right.I've rotated my tires such are new,out new new brakes and rotors all around the truck to.I also just packed my ball joint with grease. Thinking it may help but nope.I'm stuck

My truck an 09 at 332k's with original diffs and transfer case. The rear diff is full synthetic very expensive oil.

What? Pinion bearings are a very common failure on Fords, especially 04-08 F150s.

The gear howl on my '94 (139,000 miles) got louder and louder over the past year to the point where I had to do something. I had a frozen U-joint replaced a few months ago, and that helped a bit with vibration, but not the gear howl. Finally bit-the-bullet last week and ended-up with new pinion and carrier bearings. Talk about night-and-day. It hasn't been this quiet in years, makes it much more pleasant to drive. My wife even noticed. Still have the original ring & pinion gears.

had the same problem rotated tires to check and the problem moved from front to rear .could be bad tire like I had.easy to check. I've had a pinion bearing in the past, didn't viberate just noise and leak at pinion shaft.

I would find a new mechanic if he can't diagnose a u-joint.

My 06 Lincoln Mark LT vibrates, but it seems to be coming from front end and only while pulling a trailer at highway speeds. It's not the trailer, it pulls fine with other vehicles.
Sorry to high-jack thread.

toddstang, saying your sorry for highjacking is even worse. It means you are not ignorant in what your doing. Most likely your vibration has little or nothing to do with OPs problem. Please start a new thread.

Has anyone tried the dampener kit for the bed shake and has it worked?
