Default Rattling upon starting engine

When I start my truck I sometimes hear a sound that almost sounds like a little rattle upon starting, sometimes the sound is not there. Is this normal?

Do you have the Gotts mod? Mine rattles on start up and acceleration due to the PVC pipe vibrating in the fender.

Injectors are noisy on the 5.4, mine will chatter on start up when I crank it first thing in the a.m. for about 10-15 seconds. I just say "good morning to you too, dear".

So as I'm typing this I was just informed that I need a new engine. I am heated right now, I bought this f*cking truck a little over a month ago from a Ford Dealership.

They said the noise was coming from a cam shaft or something like that. WTF...

Well was just told that Ford will cover the new engine, it's still covered under their factory warranty. Anything I need to know about getting a factory rebuilt engine?

Sorry to hear you got it a month ago and now it needs a new engine. You probably DON'T need a "new" engine, its a rebuilt motor anyways when they say new.... I would do some research on cam phasers, valve lash adjusters, timing chain guides and timing chain tensioners and maybe even a cylinder head swap before you drop a "new" motor at 5 to 7000 bucks over a rattle.... It could be anything that's rattling so I would consult a couple other opinions first before you end up spending your way out of a intermittent rattle.

Ford is covering the cost so I am just going to take them up on their offer.
