Hello everyone,

My ashtray rattles when closed. Is there an established repair for this or do I need to pull it out and assess?

I did some searching and didn't come up with anything substantive.

Coming back to provide an update and close out this thread with the fix.

Upon removing the ashtray, the previous owner left tons of loose change (coins) under the insert inside of the ashtray that fell under the inside of the ashtray in some strange sort of way that was part of the rattle. As soon as I lifted the ashtray out and turned it sideways to inspect it, coins immediately started falling out. I had to shake it for a bit to get all of the coins out. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a couple of dollars worth of loose change.

The other part causing the rattle is the front cover on the ashtray was very loose and barely attached and needed to be glued on at the attachment points. I used some gel based super glue for that. Hopefully it holds.

I went on and added felt tape on the bottom of it as well as the back of the door as well since I had it off. There were numerous points causing the rattle.
