Rancho Quicklift Loaded
Planning on ordering these for my '06 supercrew
http://www.gorancho.com/assets/appli...IFT_Loaded.pdf
FRONT: #RS999909 1.75" Rancho Quicklift Loaded
REAR: #RS999285 Rear RS9000XL
Does anyone have a pic of an 06 supercrew with this exact lift? It's time for new shocks, I've got some new tires on the stock rims that are just a little fatter than stock- so I don't want to reach the sky with the truck- just want a nice 'short' lift for my 2wd.
I can install and tune these myself, right? No special tools needed? I've NEVER done suspension work in my life.
Is there ANYTHING else I need other than just ordering these 2 part #s?
*do I need to replace the spring, or should I just reuse the existing and go with the 'unloaded' version? (84k on the truck)

Take a look at this thread from yesterday where I was talking about the Rancho QuickLift. It looks like the price difference between the regular QuickLift and the Loaded is only $20. For me, that is worth having the new springs and upper mounts, and it also saves the hassle of having to get a spring compression tool and switching them out.
Just for reference for anyone reading this thread later, the part number for the 4WD listed below:
Front QuickLIFT RS999792
Front (Loaded) QuickStrut RS999910
Rear RS9000XL RS999286

Do you know the fundamental differences between the 4wd and 2wd part #'s? (other than they increment by 1)
I found a pair of 4x4 xl's that are $60 lightly used; but I have a 2wd- I'm curious if it would be safe to use them on a 2wd.
Also, I currently have 265/70/R17 (32") on the stock rims, is this lift going to look silly with these 'small' tires?

I've just been presented with another option, I was talking to a friend who owns a 2004 F-150 and he offered me his old kit.
It's a 'tuff country' kit, 1.5" rear end leafs and 3" front spacers.
I still need new shocks, but this kit would be free- I'm wondering if 3" lift is too much stress, and probably too tall for my smaller tires- the advantage would be that it's free; I would just need to replace the shocks with standard shocks - saving me around $300- but if it costs me in dmg to the truck later on- perhaps not. I'm torn.
The suspension kit would definately be less stressful for the ball joints, correct?
On a side note, I've read a lot of good things about Bilstein shocks; if they have a comparable 'lift' suspension for the truck; I would be interested. All I can find are kits for the 4wd models, though. (with 4x bilstein 5100's work on the 2wd trucks? Will they need a new set of coils in front?)
EDIT:
After a little research; I found this deal- $487.95 w/ free shipping.

Looks promising! (*Utilizes the vehicle's stock front coil springs)
So, I will probably need to buy new springs, if my existing springs look horrid... :o

I just installed the Bilstein 5100's about a month ago, reusing the stock springs. The difference in ride is night and day over stock, a little stiffer than stuck but a lot better feel. The salesman at 4 wheelparts told me he does triple the warranty returns on Rancho as compared to Bilstein. I got exactly 2" of lift out of them. However mine are about to come off as I'm going with a full 6" Fabtech Coilover lift.

Then allow her to keep her stuff on your truck.
