Radio Replacment
I was wondering about swapping my factory 6 cd changer, to an aftermarket in dash dvd tuner so my kid can watch movies in my truck...my question is, will I still be able to use the various control buttons on the steering wheel, and also, I looked at the parts store at pre connected wiring harnesses, but I didn't see any for f150s past 2001. My truck has the cruise on the left side of the wheel, and the radio/ temp fan controls on the right side. I've changed radios in every vehicle I've owned since I was a kid, but this is the newest truck I've owned and I don't want to jack the controls up.

i have an 04 lariat with the stock controlers for radio too, i put in an aftermarket pioneer stereo non dvd and my controls dont work anymore... i have read that some do come wiht the option depending on the stereo that the steering wheel controls will still work.

You have to buy a control unit and wire it in to the harness. I did it with my sony. They all work fine now. Its only 3 or 4 wires including power and ground. I got mine from Crutchfield. they have a lot of universal ones.
If you get a in dash DVD player you have to ground the unit to the parking break in order for the unit to play while the truck is in drive.
