Default Radio Reception

I was wondering if anyone has poor radio reception in their trucks. I have had poor reception in areas where I should pick it up just fine. Also I was wondering if it would be beneficial if I would just replace the antenna wire between the antenna and my radio to improve reception. Your thoughts?

I just recently got my truck and I have noticed this, but I didn't think to search about it yet. A quick google search of this site gave many results, the first of which looks promising as far as where to start looking:

Upon further reading...it doesn't look like a common problem. I'll probably check mine behind the glove box and base of the antenna tomorrow and see what I find.

High humidity in your area can cause bad reception. I get it in the summer out here in nova.

i know it is not the humidity because I have the same poor reception all year long. Maybe I should just replace the antenna wire and hope for the best.

It's a pain to replace the section from the base to the secondary that connects to the radio. You'll need to seperate the plastic wheel well liner from the front fender to fish your hand up to the antenna base. If this connection is bad and needs replacement, you'll have to push it through and into the passenger side foot area.

I broke the antenna mast off from it's base, and had to replace this part. You'll also be suprised with all the debris and leaves that fall out between the front fender well and fender.
