i have a 06 f150 crew cab lariat with the factory sub and im replacing the factory head unit wit an aftermarket one. i've been looking at harnesses and i was wondering does the sub have a different harness or does the basic one you get at walmart have a plug for the sub?

spend the money and go get a plug and play harness from best buy or a local car stereo store it saves your life. because you dont have to cut your factory harness to install the radio.

I've installed countless head units before and I've always just went to walmart or the nearest audio store and got a harness but I've never installed a head unit in a car wit a factory sub. I just figured the sub would have its own harness

The factory sub does require a different harness. Get the Metra 70-5521. That is the one I used for my FX4 and got the sub working

Check crutchfield.com it's a great site if you buy a headunit from them they give you everything you need for install and they give you options to choose from... Factory sub no sub entertainment system ect and if you already have the head unit you can get the harness and Dash reciver kit. I had a car that had factory amplified system and it required a differnt harness than the models with out the amplifier.

This is the harness you'll need, according to the reviews you may need a voltage reducer to drop the amp remote wire from 12v to 5v but the techs at crutchfield will have all the information you need to know. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1207055...e-Harness.html
