So recently purchased a 2004 screw fx4 with 160k truck has the known things wrong with it but I am fixing it as I go . Recently put new exhaust on it and knew that it had an exhaust leak in the manifold . So when I took it in to have the exhaust put on I asked for a quote for a new manifold gasket . They quoted me $900 for it. I'm like just for the new gasket . He said with those they won't just put a gasket on it because the reason they are leaking is because the manifolds get warped . So it's 8 hrs labor and roughly 250 parts. I was just wondering if this is normal. Thanks

 

isn't too bad.. honestly I would go on rockauto get the parts and have him charge for labor.. you can get both dorman left/right with studs for 137.00

 

Check with the shop first before you do this. Do not assume that a shop will let you provide your own parts.

 

These guys do cause I took my own muffler and tips in there for them to weld on for me already

 

Sometimes its better to let the shop provide part if only because if there is a problem, they cannot point to your provided part. Good luck

 

Kind of like taking your own food to a restaurant and asking them to cook it for you.
