If it were my credit card/bank account that paid for your kit, I would return the 55w kit and get a 35w kit. Don't open the box any more than necessary, other than to verify which is which. The ballasts should indicate the wattage if you can't tell otherwise. Simply explain to them you got the wrong one and you wanted a 35w kit. I think they're cheaper too, no?
People get the 55w because it is brighter. It won't put extra stress on the electrical system if you do it right and use a relay. I don't see the problem with the color scale being a little different for the 55w. I just ordered a set of 55w 6000k

as the other guy said, they are brighter. and all the different pictures and videos ive seen of the different hids, there are pretty noticeable differences. the 35w 6000k are to blue for my taste and the 35w 5000k looked pretty dimmer compared to the 55w 6000k. and the 55w 5000ks ive seen have slight yellow in there which I don't care for either.

I had 8000K 55W in my truck. Had a little blue. If I had to guess, they are EXTREMELY close to 35W 6000K. I think you'll be very happy. My 55W were much brighter than 35W kits. Let me know how long those take to get to you.

Wow, really? They are brighter? Then why the hell has everyone I've talked to around where I live told me there's little-no difference?

DDM's 35w are 3200-3400 lumens. Their 55w are 5000 lumens. Big difference if you ask me. About a 50% increase in lumen output

After 3 years and 2 vehicles, I'm still on the original ballasts and bulbs. My fog light ballasts are literally hanging in front of the front tires and have been caked in mud and ice many times over the 3 years and are still running strong.
