Default Question for the select few with manual 4x4 levers...

What is the trick to going into 4x4 Low without having a slight grinding noise? I only tried to engage my truck into 4x4 Low once and it made a slight grinding noise and haven't tried again ever since. Can someone provide tips etc because I followed the neutral procedure and everything. Thanks

I always just put it in neutral, keep your foot on the brake and push as far over as you can and just pull all the way back. Most of the time mine doesn't grind, but every now and then it does. It's temperamental.

I have actually found it to grind less when you are moving. come to almost a complete stop, shift trans to neutral and while still drifting very slowly, move lever to 4-low.
