Default Question about rough Idling

Hello everyone, was recommended to come to this site to ask questions.

I have a 2007 F-150, 5.4 3V engine, about 97000 miles. I had a slight miss about 2 weeks ago. I took it to the dealer and had the plugs changed. That fixed the problem. Well about 5 days later my wife was at the drive thru of the bank and the truck started idling very rough and making a noise. It cranks fine, drives smooth, but when you go to stop, like when i pull into my driveway and slow down it starts to do the same. I took it to a family member that is a mechanic. He put it on the machine and says the only thing it shows is the fuel pressure is lower than recommended. He says to change the Fuel filter. This is the original filter. Anybody else had this problem. Should the fuel filter take care of this. Would appreciate some advice. Look forward to hanging out here to get some good info on the blue ovals in my life!

First off, welcome to the site!

Second, did I read that right? 97,000 miles and on the original fuel filter? You need to change that either way. I change mine every 15,000 Miles. All you need to do it is a fuel line tool and a fuel filter, both very inexpensive. According to my Haynes manual, the best way to relieve the fuel pressure on these trucks is to disconnect the plug sending power to the fuel pump. It's worked flawlessly for me so far. If you do need to know the full procedure for replacing a fuel filter just let us know and we'll help you out!

Default Having the same problem.

My 2008 F150 started doing the same thing at the end of last summer. When the fall and winter rolled around, it quit doing it. Now that the temperatures have gotten hotter outside, it started doing it again. So far I have changed the fuel filter, cleaned the MAF sensor, cleaned the throttle body, and run Sea Foam through it but nothing has helped. I finally broke down and made an appointment at the dealership for tomorrow. I'll let you know if they find anything.

Thanks to everyone that posted. I had the fuel filter changed today and it seems to have fixed the issue. The guy that changed it also gave me a can of seafoam. I put it in while filling up. Hopefully this is the fix. Look forward to reading more on this board.

Default Still waiting

My truck is still at the dealership. They called me on Friday afternoon and said they needed my permission to remove the valve covers to try to locate the problem. They said they would know more by Monday.

I drove by the dealership last night and my truck is sitting outside on the lot. So I don't know at this point if their just blowin' smoke and stalling for more time. The service department opens at 8 am today, so I'm going to call to find out whats going on.
