Default A question about jacks...

I have a new to me 2005 scab 4x4, True Blue and 5.4. It has a set of later model wheels and tire (275/55-20). My old Craftsman jack does not go high enough to lift the truck. What is everyone else using? What is a good lift range? It would be good if it was low enough to fit under my 2017 Charger, too. Thanks

I just bought a jack at the local Home Depot that has a 21" max lift and like 7.5" minimum and even included 2 jack stands.

You can also use a block of 4x6 for additional lift until you can clear enough room to place the jack stands.

I've got slightly bigger tires than you and have no problem getting the tires off the ground with a typical cheapo heavy duty floor jack.
for the rear I lift either under the diff, or under the axle tube.
In the front you can lift where the lower a arms attached to the front cross member or at the frame. Though you may need a block for the frame. If I'm just taking a wheel off for brake work I'll lift it right under the a arm.
of course always use jack stands if working under the vehicle. This is where you may need taller jackstands depending what you're working on.

Harbor Freight floor jack works great for me. And it low profile so it works on my wife and daughters vehicles as well.
