Default question about exhaust

Im still shopping for different exhausts to get for my 06 SCrew 5.5Ft XLT. But i was wondering if its illegal to have that electronic dump before the muffler in the state of new jersey. and if it is, will they fail me for it if i leave it closed/having it installed?

Thanks

My guess is no, it would not be illegal. As long as the ellectronic "dump" is closed, allowing the exhaust system to flow through the mufflers, then all would be fine. I assume they do a visual inspection as well as the tailpipe sniff check, so this is where it could get questionable though.

The best way to find out though is to simply stop by one of your inspection stations and ask.

haha this is very true... but its amazing how fast you can fail inspection here... and even if your car is inspected properly, you can get pulled over at any time and get "Roadside Inspected" and fail even if you passed a month ago... lol

Thats a good idea, i think i need to go to a private inspector anyway because i wont pass with my tints, and I dont want to tear them off and waste $100-$200 getting it retinted, because its just a pain in the butt

Just tell em you race the truck on the weekends and that your cutout is for off road use only. That's what its made for.
