Well my original plan was to copy this mod that I found while doing some research, painting the gauge face black and painting the four small gauge rings silver to match the tach & speedo rings.
I started it a few days ago and I was almost done with it when I realized that I wanted to kick it up a notch.....soooooo....I wrapped the entire inside of the gauge face in black leather with a leather cord accent trim. Then I did some walking around in Home Depot until I found something that I could modify into actual rings for the four smaller gauges. After a little dremel work and some rattle can painting and here's what she looks like. My needles should be here any day now, and as soon as they arrive I'll have my custom dash done, complete with blue lighting for the gauges.
Whatcha think of leather face?

1 1/2" tailpiece in the plumbing section. I started in the hardware aisle and found a few things that might have worked, then I struck gold in the plumbing section. I brought my gauge face into HD and when I saw the tailpieces iI was able to test fit 'em right then and there. I had to dremel the gauge holes out just a tad to get the plastic to fit, which was a piece of cake. I cut the ends off with my dremel, removed the burrs with some 600 grit, and gave them and the bigger rings three coats of silver metallic enamel paint. I can't wait to see how the blue gauge lighting makes the silver rings glow......should be pretty sweet!
