Looking at an edge evolution for my 07 5.4. I have questions about power and fuel types. Can you use regular fuel and still feel power difference? I cannot afford premium everytime I fill up. Any better programmers out there? Let's here some opinions.

I would not use a tuner to "de-tune" an engine to use mid grade gas. If you have a 5.4, I think Ford requires the 92-93 octane stuff.

As to tunners, I'd recommend the search option. Also read your post on CAI's, as these are the most common topics on this forum. Hundreds of posts to read through, and most bypass these threads because they've been talked to the point of exhaustion.

wow, bucko, you've got some high octane where you live. i can't get over 91 in arkansas. unless your manual says your motor requires higher octane, or you have major internal mods to your motor, 87 is just fine.

87 has been running my 4.6 (85,000 miles) and my mom's 5.4 (160,000 miles) for a loooong time

and yes, you can "feel" a difference with an edge and 87 octane fuel. i run the stage 2 setting, with some changes. changing the trans settings gets the power to the ground much more efficiently.

No. You can use 87 (regular) in the 5.4. From the manual, "Your vehicle is designed to use Fuel Ethanol (Ed75–Ed85),“Regular”
unleaded gasoline or any mixture of the two fuels."
