Try watching youtube videos of programmers you are thinking about. It helped me see the features with each one, how easy to install, the ease of changing options/tunes, & overall look mounted in the vehicle.

I think someone mentioned the edge evo programmer. Seems a lot run them on here & the price is good, but 1 downfall I found. You said you already have a CAI I'm pretty sure the edge evo does not have brand specific aftermarket CAI as a selectable option when it comes to getting the most out of your CAI. It'll still show you air intake temp but with another brand or better model edge you will have more options down the road. Of course there's the higher price involved. I'm personally saving for the edge cs or sct livewire cause CAI & exhaust are 2 things I plan on doing.

Blacklariat07 is right. The Edge Evo is the old EDGE. the new EDGE CS and CTS have options for the CAI

I believe I read in a thread yesterday that PHP now works with only the old Edge Evo's and they no longer will tune the CS and CTS. I don't have a whole lot of info about this, but just thought I would throw it out there since I saw it in another thread.

Correct. PHP can only customize the original Edge Evolution. They had too many problems with the CS/CTS. I "kinda found a way around that", but it's expensive". If you have custom tunes on your Edge Evolution, they won't leave you out in the dark if you upgrade to CS or CTS. So, what Im doing is spending the $180 and buying the 3 custom tunes I'll use all the time. Then, purchasing an Edge Evo CTS, getting the tunes transferred and crossing my fingers that theres not too many problems with the fusion/lightning software, and selling my original Edge to recoup some of the cash. Crazy expensive, but oh well, gotta pay to play!!!!

Are there canned or custom tunes that will give you both better mpg and better performance?

I know if your driving habit is pedal to the metal all the time and like to launch fast as soon as you see the light go green, your going to be going through gas quickly no matter how good your vehicle is on gas. But I'm just wondering if any of the programmers give you a good mpg tune with performance if you decide to step on the gas wide open?

From what I understood in the few talks with PHP on the phone, they have a few custom tunes to perhaps focus on "better MPG". But she definitely said dont get your hopes up for a noticeable change and definitely don't count on "Oh, I ran on Level 1 this tank, I probably won't have to fill up for 2 extra days now!!".. That is a tune that's sole purpose is to focus on MPG.. I would imagine asking them to make a tune that peps up performance WHILE saving gas is kinda out of the question.. Im sure there's a few things they can do.. A happy medium.. Only allowing you half of the gains of a true, all-out performance tune..

Fenix, before you go on buying yourself, ask yourself this, if it was so cheap and easy and produced any results, why isn’t everyone doing it or better yet, why doesn’t it come with the stock. You can try and get programmers however and see to what extent they give you an advantage. A tuner basically should be a programmer with a capability of giving you the most control and not letting the user do dumb decisions, that means filtering the tuning parameters that are absolutely critical and warning the user about them.

Blacklariat...Edge CTS when you program first will give you a list of CAIs to choose from..You have to go from custom options, lets you to change tire size, intake etc., I picked KN..there is airaid and others. Also the edge tech staff says..for some trucks level II might render better mileage depending on your drive. For some Level I might. You really have to try it all. Also the Edge CTS screen has few customizable backgrounds. Backup camera hook up is a plus.

...and unless you are making major modifications/upgrades, like forced induction, an Edge/Gryphon is plenty good. There are usually some used ones available online if you are strapped for costs (since they seem to be cheaper than some other tuners).
