I have an '07 F150 which does the same thing. I recall having the same problem on my 95 T-bird and changing the transmission oil took take of the problem. I have not been able to change the trans oil on my truck but I would give that a try first.

While you state you cannot tell where it is coming from (yet), you'll need to try. It is impossible to diagnose a noise problem from "underneath". Go to a large parking spot, such as a mall on an early Sunday morning with some of your friends. Then have them stand safely at the sides of the truck, and one in the passenger side to assist in identifying the location of the noise.

It could be engine ping (low octane fuel), loose exhaust, motor mounts, transmission mounts, cam phasers (if it's a 5.4), and the list goes on.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. Except I really do not notice a loss of power.
