Prevenative maintenance , fuel pump module
Did a little preventative maintenance today! I dropped my spare tire and cleaned my fuel pump module. I replaced it two years ago and put some spacers between the frame and module to slow the corrosion. Not really surprised it was pretty well corroded again, but I inspected it and cleaned it up with wire brush and pb blaster and put some electrode grease on the connector. Before I installed it I used anti seize on the bolts. I also put some grease on the spare tire cable and worked it up and down. Next is fuel filter, front and rear differentials, transfer case, tranny flush

I read this thread with great interest and figured I'd have a look, guessing that my FPDM had never been touched.... and boy was I right....
Here it is before I touched it. Sure enough, it had never been touched...

When I took it off (twisting the head off one bolt but no biggie - vise grips to the rescue) this is what it looked like. Notice it was cracked wide open and the board inside open to the elements. It's a wonder this worked at all.

and another... one end actually fell off!

And the new one....

I'm certainly glad I caught this now and not out on vacation and over the road somewhere. Then the $108 CDN would have seemed like a really good deal for sure. Thanks to the OP for the very, very useful info and the heads up. Of course while I was under there I greased and lubed up the spare tire winch, checked the pressure in the spare and installed a new fuel filter for good measure. This site is awesome
