Default power windows failure

I have a 2004 Lariat super cab with an interesting window issue. I don't use my windows much and have had the driver's side regulator changed in roughly 2015. Got a brake tag the other day and had the inspector check the windows. She simply activated them down and then back up from the drivers side panel. Well after that she left the driver's side down. I went to put it up and drive home and nothing. Then I tried all the others, and again nothing. I brought the truck home and took the door panel off. using a 12-volt power supply, I manually raised the driver's side window. The window goes up and down nicely, so the regulator is still good in my opinion. I ordered a driver's side switch assembly thinking that might have gone bad. So the new switch arrives and I install it. Same issue. No windows move but now there is a clicking noise coming from the switch when I press the driver's window switch, all others are still dead with no movement or motor noise.
Of note, with the driver's side door open, The dash door open light and trip computer will blink when driver's side door button is pushed and the door open dinger sounds (weirdly). If I push any other window switch the cab lights dim and nothing else happens. all other window buttons on respective doors are similarly seemingly dead.
I read in another similar post that door wiring through the rubber opening conduit is a prime failure point. My question is how can I troubleshoot the pins in the module plug to isolate and see which wire needs fixing? Another question is, as this is my daily driver, how hard is it to replace the wire in question or wires. Complete dash rebuild or just splice a connector?

Lets see if we can prompt someone to point you to a wiring diagram or post one for your use. Likely a broken wire or bad ground connection.
I did a 2005 Explorer a couple of weeks ago and it had broken wires in driver door hinge area.
If the wires are not broken (intermittent) then you should have 12 volts at the switch with the key on.
To see if you have broken wires you can pull back the rubber seal in the door jam and inspect wiring. In my case the power and ground wires were heavier gauge wires and both were broken. I spliced in a new wire to the cab side of the break and ran that new wire(s) to the switch.
