ok so i came back from deployment and after my truck sat without use and my truck is pretty hard to turn, like 2 hands its a pita. i read the steering u-joints were known for seizing up so i sprayed them with pb and it helped a small amount for only a little bit. there isnt any grinding or anything and at certain points in the turn its easy and some its stiff. fluid levels are normal. the rack and pinion wouldnt just go out like that would it? the only mod up front is 2.5in level 33's and 20's. didnt have any issues with this setup before hand, just weird.

 

It's the lower u joints in the steering shaft. My truck had the same problem, it's an easy fix. It's also can be called a rag joint
