So who needs to get seriously hurt or killed before ford does a recall on this? Just blows my mind.

 

It can be dangerous. As mine was seizing up I had no idea what it was and one day I couldn't keep the truck in the lane. I have over 2 million miles safe driving in a tractor trailer and had no way to keep the truck in the lane. Could have been really bad had my wife been driving the truck. I do feel it should be a safety recall. Doubt it'll ever happen though.

 

There are part failures that are way more dangerous than this that don't get recalled

Hmm I didn't know Dorman made a replacement, must be new.

 

Installed part & all is well... Just turned over 100K & have kept engine clean.. the upper "U" joint was the culprit, binds with hand pressure, loading.
