Power steering fluid resevor
Maybe someone can shed some light on this;
I was checking under the hood and noticed that the power steering fluid was changing levels while the engine was running. The fluid almost looked like it was churning. The fluid is clean but it "churns" unless the wheels are at full "rack".
I never noticed this before. Son thinks the pump is bad. What do you guys see when the engine is running, your power steering fluid churning or not.

it's supposed to do that. if it's not moving, you have a serious problem

Also always keep the cap on it so there's a vacuum in the reservoir, that'll keep bubbles from recirculating back into the stream

LA, I do keep the cap on it. And there are no bubbles. I just do not remember seeing that before. I had steering wheel return issues, that is why I checked the fluid, and then saw the "churning", and no churning at full rack when the pump is stressed. Thanks for the replies!

Thanks all. Steering return problem gone. All is well. Need to change the belt for sure. Everything is lubed. Probably will flush the power steering fluid if the steering remains normal. The truck is 8 model years old, so yeah. Wouldn't hurt.
