Power bogged down when in select gear vs drive
Hi guys!
I can't find an answer anywhere else so I'm hoping somebody can help me here.
I have an 04 5.4L and I've noticed that when I'm selecting a specific gear, let's just say 2nd though it doesn't matter, the power is reduced. I found this out on accident one day as u was driving up a steep road I shifted it down I to 2nd so I didn't have to worry about it grabbing gears. As I approached the top I threw it back into drive and it was like it suddenly came alive and just took off. I didn't increase throttle nor did it shift. I thought it was odd and maybe did something without noticing but I've been able to replicate the results, this time while actually paying attention. It even sounds like it's working harder, really grunting, almost as if the breaks are being applied then they release when I shift back into drive.
Any experience, knowledge, or ideas would be appreciated.
Thank you!
