Well I can say that I thuroughly enjoyed the sound system in my '05 Lariat. I didn't even have the woofer. I thought it sounded just fine unless you were approaching the volume limits.

Just my .02 worth...
There are great deals to be had.
I am a new truck owner - My FIRST truck.
I bought an 05 SCREW with 34k on the ODO and loaded out (except nav system) for less than $20K.
I am hoping that the shine doesn't wear off, but it is the nicest vehicle I've ever owned. With the economy being what it is, people are unloading trucks left and right.
I have a want/need out of the truck (tow vehicle) and I am very pleased.
Based on my research, the only issues that are of real concern with a used F150:
- Alignment (mine liked to drift)
- Not uncommon for the 3rd brake light to be cracked. People haul things and whack it
- Stock audio quality has an "echo" aspect, but I think that has to do with the extra room in the crew cab
- Throttle response is a bit sluggish with the 3:73 rear ratio, but not annoying
There are people here that are much more in the know than me, but overall, the problems are minimal if you do your homework.
It took me nearly 2 months to find the "right" truck...

Bleeds FORD Blue
Only known major problems ive seen and noticed were spark plugs(when time to change them), I broke 5 off when I did mine, luckily all came out pretty easily. And the cam phasers. I was told my a tech, that its possible to wreck the motor, but not unless you let it get really bad. They said its going to ruin the cats quickly though.
