Default Possible Intake Manifold Runner Control Issue

A while back I had a service engine soon light come on (September I believe) and took it in to the dealer and they found it to be the transmission range sensor and an intake manifold runner control (imrc) fault (wasn't letting air in). I had the transmission range sensor replaced and the dealer ending up resetting the imrc and it seemed to be fine through most of the winter. The dealer quoted me $990.00 to have the imrc replaced. As the weather is getting warmer I noticed some bogging down when accelerating around 2,000 rpm. I hesitates for 3-5 seconds and then accelerates normal. I read on here about the air filter box foam seal causing this and replaced it and I am still having the issue. It doesn't always happen and I haven't had the light come back on. It occurs the most when I have it on MAX A/C. Have any of you had a similar issue and what was the fix. Really don't want to drop a grand in the truck if I don't have to. Any ideas? Does $990 seem high for this repair?

That price is right on. I just had mine done at the dealer and it was 970ish and that was with my 20% discount. Mine was throwing a code for intake manifold runner stuck open bank 1.

Mine had the same code 2k ago, ran a bottle of Seafoam through the brake-booster hose and TONS of white smoke poured out and I havent had the code since. The trucks PO had a CAI and the throttle body was all gummed up and the MAF was super dirty. I cleaned both of those just before the Seafoam and have not had the code since. I assume since the throttle body and intake just below the throttle body was all greasy, that the IMRC runners and rods were the same. I had begun researching how to replace the IMRC, that is not a job that should only be left to a dealer, it isnt really all that bad. All new Ford parts cost about $200.

Thanks I might try and clean the MAF sensor and run Seafoam through the brake booster this weekend. How much of the can should I run through the brake booster?

I did about half a can. Don't introduce it to fast.......it could warp valves if you do. Nice and slow, about half way through half a can, rev it several times. Thats when the smoke rolls.
