Is it possible to change clutches in auto trans without pulling trans?
Hey guys. I've got a 2005 f150 I am working on. The motor is at the machine shop and I am thinking about rebuilding the transmission. Looking at the video below, I wonder if it would be possible to pull everything out the front of the transmission while it's still in the truck. If not, Has anyone pulled the transmission out through the hood? Has anyone overhauled a 4r75w? Thanks for the help!

You really need to pull the trans. During assembly you want the trans standing on end so you can get everything lined up. The only automatic I have had apart was a Dodge. There are a few on here that can help ya out with your trans.

I'm still trying to figure out how you'd "pull everything out the front of the transmission while it's still in the truck"?
Unless you remove the engine. But it would be waaaaay easier to remove the transmission.

OP, go ahead and pull the transmission to make things easier.

while it might be possible, its not practical. Since the engine is removed, 2/3 of work is already done. just drop the transmission out the bottom and rebuild it on the bench.
