Possible bad cam phasers
I have a 2008 Ford F-150 with the 5.4. It has a ticking sound at idle and while driving cold or hot it also acts like it is going to shut off when in gear at idle but not all the time I will attach a video of what it is doing.truck also feels like it has no top end power low end is fine but foot to the floor doesn’t feel right at all.

needsmoarturbo said this on my post about the same thing the other day.
My "knock" can hardly be heard from the cab so I am not too worried
Is it loudest inside the passenger side wheel well?
does this noise only happen after it is warm, but is quiet for the first 10 minutes of the day?
If so then you are looking at the hot idle phaser knock.
Some claim this is harmless and maybe it is, but eventually the phaser will probably not return to the base position anymore and will give you a rough idle.. or may give you other indications it's time to replace them and upgrade the oil pump etc.
You can probably ignore it unless you also have a lot of rattling at startup for a few seconds or other symptoms.

Hey Jacob,
Your video only shows a steady knock. Does the knock/tick get quieter when you accelerate?
If the noise is steady and continues as the rpm's increase, then you are looking at internal valve train issues.
I have same sound and doesn't go away upon a load or increased throttle.
I do not have shelter and we are in the not yet spring mode for weather and temps, so I my DIY repairs are on hold.
My issue I believe is more of a roller follower/lash adjuster.
Good luck and keep us posted.

I was unable to get the video to work earlier, but now I was able to watch it it sounds more like valvetrain noise or possible a VCT solenoid that is rattling.
It doesn't sound like the typical phaser knocking at idle sound.
